I am a professor of Elementary Education and Instructional Technology at The University of Montevallo. Currently, I serve as the Department Chair for Teaching, Leadership, and Technology.  My research/pedagogical interests include BYOD/Mobile Learning, Gifted Education, Instructional Technology, and mobile apps in the classroom.

2006-2012

Instructional Technology Specialist   |   Vestavia Hills Elementary Central   |   Vestavia Hills City Schools

I served as the Instructional Technology Specialist with Vestavia Hills City Schools and serve as the Instructional Technology Specialist. This gave me the opportunity to closely work with classroom teachers in my building and across the district to develop lessons and curriculum. Other duties of this position were to sponsor the broadcasting program, plan the District Technology Conference, serve on district committees, and assist in rolling out the "Interactive Classroom" for all classrooms in the district. 

2003-2006

Gifted Education Specialist   |   Vestavia Hills Elementary Central   |

I began my career as a Gifted Education Specialist with Vestavia Hills Elementary Central School. This is an intermediate school with 4th and 5th grades. I served approximately 150 gifted students in a weekly pull-out program. Our goal was to serve students in their strength area of Math, Science, or Language Arts. Some examples of the studies we completed were Rube Goldberg: A Simple Machine Investigation, Designing a Roller Coaster, Planning a Vacation, Broadcasting: Producing The Central Show. Additional responsibilities included planning The Communication Celebration and conducting professional development trainings.
